Here are ten things that I didn't know until recently

I love the color pale yellow. In fact, it may be my favorite color. I always thought my favorite color was blue. But, no. It might be yellow.

They have actually made bio fuel out of any type of plant based product for example -grass clippings. You could run your car, using the engine that you have right this moment, on your grass clippings! Very cool, and very crazy!

I never knew how much joy you could have just by watching your children play well together - without fighting, without hitting, and without leaving each other out.

I am afraid of crossing large bodies of water. Terrified. Never knew!

I never thought it would be so terrifying or difficult to send my oldest to kindergarten.

My two year old, can stick a half a hot dog into her mouth without choking. (Okay - somethings that I just found out I never really wanted to know!).

It really is possible to have the perfect day. You just have to do everything you can to prepare, be flexible enough to let all the planning go out the window if need be, and be aware enough to enjoy it when it comes.

We built sand castles, played tag with the waves, finally convinced my two year old to walk on the sand and didn't even ingest too much sand at lunch time.



























So, I really only had seven things, but I'm too conforming to have a list of "seven things". Oh well.

We are here!

I find myself very often feeling like the Whos in Dr. Suess' Horton Hears A Who. Floating around on my own little dust speck contented to do just that until either disaster strikes because of a big, dumb kangaroo or I suddenly remember the amazing and enormous world I am a part of. Well, this wake up call is, fortunately, a result of the latter. This blog is my attempt to make contact with that emense space (and hopefully escape from being smooshed by any giant kangaroos). So, like all those whos, the Hicken clan shouts "We are here! We are here! We are here!" I hope a few of you Hortons out there will enjoy our blog.
